Arkaroola to Marree via Leigh Creek

A short day from Arkaroola and the northern Flinders Ranges to the edge of the empty expanse of Lake Eyre. Lunch stop at Farina, an amazing deserted (now I understand the origin of that term!) town with an extraordinary pioneering history.... including a legacy of an outback community clinging to the edge of the desert and the end of the Ghan railway line, only to lose so many of its young men to both World Wars. The post office closed in 1960, and only three families remained - now zero.
